Violet Moore Higgins (born 1886 in Elgin, Illinois, and died 1967 in New York, New York) learned her craft at the Art Institute of Chicago. After graduation, she moved to New York, where she made a career of illustrating magazines, and writing and illustrating children's books in the early 1900's. Her illustrated Retold stories include "The Endless Story and other Oriental Tales Retold", "The Silver Ship and other Japanese Tales Retold", "The Woodcutters Son and other Old English Tales Retold", and "The Little Juggler and other French Tales Retold".
