Hal Clement -
Hal Clement (born May 30, 1922, died October 29, 2003) was the pen name of Harry Clement Stubbs. A writer of "hard" science fiction, he had a B.S.in Astronomy and an M.S. in Chemistry. He taught both subjects for many years at Milton Academy in Massachusetts. Under the name George Richard, he painted astronomically oriented artworks. A B-24 bomber pilot in Europe during WW2, Hal eventually retired as a colonel. In 1998, Hal was honored with the Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award.
Donald A. Wollheim -
Donald Allen Wollheim (born October 1, 1914, died November 2, 1990) was a leading influence on the development of Science Fiction fandom. Don was a founding member of the famous Futurians science fiction fan/writers club, and he organized the first science fiction convention. He founded the Fantasy Amateur Press Association, and was a member of Hugo Gernsback's New York Science Fiction League. Don became editor of the pioneering paperback publisher Avon Books, editor-in-chief of Ace Books, and the founder of DAW Books, which was the first specialist science fiction and fantasy mass market publishing house.
Nelson Bond -
Nelson Slade Bond (born November 23, 1908, died November 4, 2006) wrote extensively for books, magazines, radio, television, and the stage. In 1946 he wrote the first ever full-length play to appear on network television. He is most famous for his "Meg the Priestess" stories, which featured one of the first powerful female characters in science fiction. In 1998 Nelson was honored with the Nebula Author Emeritus Award for Lifetime Achievement.
